Residents are still praying for a miracle and a quick arrest as a security guard fights to recover from multiple gunshot wounds. William Hudson remains in critical condition at Gwinnett Medical Center. Gwinnett Police say Xavier Geder shot the 46 year old husband and father shot several times at the Norcross Extended Stay Motel Norcross on September 1.

"This shouldn't have happened to him. He's a good man..a God fearing man who just tries to keep us safe out here," said resident Shardae Gaskin.

Police wouldn't say where he had been shot nor how many bullets were fired, but more than a dozen shell casings were recovered from the crime scene.

A SWAT situation followed as police searched the building for a suspect, evacuating a few guests as they focused on a room located in the back of the motel.  But police say it appears the gunman, described as a black male, escaped.  They hope surveillance video and interviews with residents will help them piece together what happened and who pulled the trigger.

Detectives say the 32 year old suspect was last seen running toards Jimmy Carter Boulevard around 5:30 a.m September 1. There are two active warrants for Geder for aggravated assault and aggravated battery. The motive for the crime is still being investigated. But residents say he was just trying to calm Geder down after Geder reportedly got upset with Hudson.

"Anyone who knows where this man is should just do the right thing. Will always did the right thing. He didn't deserve this and his family deserves justice. I just hopes he makes it," Gaskin said.

Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call police at 770-513-5300 or Crime Stoppers at 404-5877-TIPS (8477). Crime stoppers tipsters can receive up to $2,000 for information leading to an arrest and indictment in this case.
