Missing 57-year-old man found as 'John Doe' at hospital
COLLEGE PARK, Ga. - A Mattie's Call has been canceled for a 57-year-old man who was missing for two days after he was located in an area hospital.
Police say that Anthony Burton was last seen leaving his mother's home in the 1300 block of College Park's Shoreham Drive on Jan. 29.
According to officials, he told the family that he was going to go pick something up from a Pine Drive residents and was never heard from again. Family was concerned because Burton is not a Georgia resident and does not have a familiarity with the area. He has also been diagnosed with a traumatic brain injury, diabetes and anxiety, officials said.
Police said Burton was actually admitted to Atlanta Medical Center after he had been struck by a car. He was admitted as a “John Doe” since he was without identification, but an alert nurse recognized him from the Mattie’s Call.
Burton was in the Intensive Care Unit as of Friday afternoon surrounded by family.
Police wished him a speedy recovery.
