Mayor Reed visits Friendship Towers

It appears the long awaited heat relief for the residents of friendship towers has arrived.

About 90 seniors have lived in sweltering conditions much of this summer, but now their air conditioning is working.

On Wednesday, Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed toured Friendship Towers, but said that some of the residents still aren't happy.

The mayor says only one of the 90 units in the Atlanta high rise was unacceptable and they are working on a solution.

Although the air is cool, feelings are not exactly warm for friendship towers and about 10-12 of the residents want out.

The mayor says he will do what he can to work with HUD to relocate those dissatisfied residents.

FOX 5 has been told friendship will make some kind of announcement in the coming weeks.
