Man who walked away from murder trial recaptured

ATLANTA - A convicted murderer who skipped out on his murder trial more than six months ago has been recaptured. That’s according to the U.S. Marshals Southeast Regional Fugitive Task Force who made the announcement late Tuesday.

Shane Woods was last seen on the second day of his trial back in February. The judge was considering the prosecutions motion to revoke bond when Wood's slipped out during a recess while wearing “street clothes” for his trial. The judge eventually revoked his bond after evidence showed that he was tampering with the state's witnesses.

The 25-year-old fugitive was convicted in absentia of two counts of felony murder and aggravated assault for the January 2013 murder of Zachary Rose. A judge sentenced Woods to life plus five years.

U.S. Marshals said Woods was recaptured at an apartment off of Brockett Road in Clarkston around 8 p.m. Tuesday. He was booked into the Fulton County Jail.

Officials said he is expected to face further charges of possessing a firearm and possible drug possession, both of which were found during his arrest.
