Man struck, killed after stepping off MARTA bus
ALPHARETTA, Ga. - A man was struck and killed after exiting a MARTA bus Tuesday morning.
Police have identified the victim as Chekuri Gautam, 36, of Ocala, Florida.
The accident happened on Haynes Bridge Road, near Old Milton Parkway in Alpharetta.
An official with MARTA said the passenger was struck in the crosswalk after getting off the bus. According to the Alpharetta Department of Public Safety, the man was walking behind the bus when he was hit.
The driver stayed on the scene and is now speaking with investigators.
The northbound lanes of Haynes Bridge Road are currently shut down and traffic is being detoured around the scene.
