Person shot when officer tried to intervene during road rage incident, police say

The Atlanta Police Department said a person is in stable condition after a shooting downtown that stemmed from road rage.

Police said a man appeared to have been shot in the foot near Forsyth Street.

Police said the ordeal started with a road rage incident before 4 p.m. on Monday. Atlanta Police Department Deputy Chief Charles Hampton said an officer tried to intervene.

One person, Hampton said, fired a gun and then an Atlanta police officer fired their gun. Investigators said the suspect's bullet hit a person, but don't think the officer's shot hit anyone.

The man who fired a shot was arrested. Police said they're also interviewing two women.
