Man gets 3 life sentences for armed robberies in Georgia

MARIETTA, Ga. (AP) — Prosecutors say a suburban Atlanta man has been order to serve three consecutive life sentences for a series of armed robberies.

Cobb County district attorney Vic Reynolds said Wednesday that 31-year-old Brandon Allen Holmes of Austell, Georgia, was convicted on five armed robbery charges. Prosecutors say Holmes threatened the store clerk with a black revolver and took money from the cash register at several stores during a two-month span in 2015.

A judge sentenced Holmes on Monday.

Reynolds says Holmes robbed two Family Dollar locations, a Dollar General, an AutoZone and MetroPCS. The gun used in the robberies was found loaded in Holmes' residence.

Prosecutors say Holmes had prior felony convictions in Ohio.
