MACON, Ga. (AP) - A Georgia man who was swimming in the Ocmulgee River with a group of friends has drowned.
Bibb County Chief Deputy Coroner Lonnie Miley says 24-year-old Qytravious Brown, of Bonaire, was with three or four friends at Amerson River Park when he went under about 6:45 p.m. Thursday.
The Telegraph reports the fire department helped search for Brown for about a half-hour before his body was pulled from the water. Brown was pronounced dead just before 9:30 p.m.
He is the second person to die by drowning in the area in the past 12 hours.
Late Thursday afternoon, 44-year-old Wayne Jenkins was found unresponsive in the pool at a subdivision in north Macon. He died at a hospital shortly before 2 p.m.
