Man critically injured after car, moped collide

A man is in the hospital with life-threatening injuries after a collision between a car and a moped on Powder Springs Street, according to Marietta Police.

Police say Briauna Harris, 19, was traveling northbound on Powder Springs Street in a 2003 Kia Optima in the left lane approaching Chestnut Hill Road.

Herbert Bailey, 62, was on a moped was going southbound in the turn lane, and failed to yield to Harris, according to authorities.

Harris was unable to avoid Bailey, and a collision occurred, police say. Bailey was transported to Kennestone Hospital by Metro Ambulance where he is currently being treated for life-threatening injuries.

Harris, along with the other female occupant in her vehicle, were not seriously injured in the crash.

The Marietta Police Department’s S.T.E.P. Unit is still currently investigating the collision.  Anyone with information is urged to contact Officer Jared Rakestraw at 770-794-5357.
