Man convicted for assaulting woman who wouldn't have sex with him

A Cobb County jury has convicted a man of assaulting a woman who he dated because she didn't want to have sex with him.

The jury convicted 45-year old Donatus Wilkins of aggravated assault with intent to rape, aggravated assault by strangulation, and hindering a 911 call.

Wilkins and the victim had been in a relationship for more than 2 years.

The judge sentenced Wilkins to 40 years with 16 years to serve in prison and the rest on probation.

He will also have to register as a sex offender after he's released.
