Man cleared by FBI in investigation of email compromise scheme

ATLANTA - We have an important correction to share with you. The FBI has cleared Julian Whitfield of any involvement in an email compromise scheme we reported on in 2017. 

In a release to FOX 5 in July of last year, the FBI shared surveillance photos showing Mr. Whitfield at a local bank. They asked for help identifying the man seen in those pictures. 

Yesterday, the FBI Atlanta office told us a bank provided them the wrong photo, the FBI included in their press release.

We’re happy to set the record straight for Julian Whitfield. Again, he was not involved in an email compromise scheme as reported in error by the FBI.
