Man attempts to burn down home with woman, kids inside

HALL COUNTY, Ga. - A Flowery Branch man is accused of trying to burn down a house with a woman and two children inside. 

Deputies were called to the home in the 7300 block of Club Crest Drive early Saturday morning where they arrested 41-year-old Gregory Garrett. 

Investigators said they learned Garrett had kicked and thrown items at a woman inside the home, leaving her with multiple bruises, scratches, and marks. Deputies also said Garrett brought gasoline and charcoal into the home with the intent to burn it down with the woman and two children inside. 

Garrett was charged with three counts of aggravated assault, misdemeanor battery under the family violence act, misdemeanor cruelty to children, and making terroristic threats. 

Garrett was taken to the Hall County Jail. A bond hearing is scheduled for Thursday. 

The children were not hurt.
