Man accused of setting fire to home with his family inside

HABERSHAM COUNTY, Ga. - A man has been accused of setting fire to a residence while his family was still inside, according to the Habersham County Sheriff's Office.

Jeffery Jones was arrested in connection with the incident on Saturday after fleeing from the scene, according to police.

The incident occurred around 3:30 a.m. on Saturday, and deputies responded to a structure fire call in the Mt. Zion road area.

Investigators say the fire was a result of a domestic dispute, and that Jones set fire to the residence while his family was present in the residence.

Police say everyone escaped the residence without major injury.

Jones fled the scene prior to law enforcement's arrival in a blue 2012 Ford Focus, according to the sheriff's office.
