Male employee says female department head sexually harassed him

ATLANTA - Despite getting good marks for work, a county employee says a female supervisor turned the work environment into a hostile place.

Walker Tisdale took his complaint to the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission. He then hired an attorney and went to federal court.

Tisdale's boss, identified in the complaint as Veronica Hartwell, allegedly called Tisdale a "sissy" and made explicit sexual remarks about her worker's private parts. Tisdale claims his boss threatened to "cut them off".

Hartwell gave a sworn statement through a deposition in which she denied knowing anything about a hostile work environment or any sexual remarks.

The county law department did its own investigation and in the end recommended the county commissioners settle the case. Taxpayers are left on the hook for $475,000.

I asked a county spokesperson whatever happened to Ms. Hartwell. The spokesperson said he cannot discuss her status.

She terminated Tisdale, according to the court filing.
