MADD Georgia gets nearly $130,000 in state grant money
ATLANTA (AP) — A group committed to reducing drunken driving in Georgia is getting a state grant worth nearly $130,000.
Mothers Against Drunk Driving said in a news release its Georgia chapter has been awarded the grant from the Governor's Office of Highway Safety.
MADD says the money will be used to pay for two additional staffers to conduct school programs targeting underage drinking. The grant will also help fund DUI prevention training for law enforcement, military and community groups.
Founded in 1980, MADD has grown to become the largest nonprofit in the U.S. working to end drunken driving.
