Ten years ago, the Reverend Raphael G. Warnock was called to serve as the 5th senior pastor of the historic Ebenezer Baptist Church.  He was 35, a passionate activist preacher, and single.

The latter has changed.  On Friday, January 1, 2016 as the congregation gathered for their annual Watch Night Service, the pastor had an important announcement.  After some brief introductions, he got down on one knee and proposed to Ms. Ouleye Ndoye. She said yes. The two exchanged vows Sunday at 2:30 p.m. in the Horizon Sanctuary.

Sunday is not only Valentine’s Day; it is Love Day at Ebenezer.  During the 11 a.m. worship hour, 30 married couples renewed their sacred vows.  In addition to the renewal service, Pastor Warnock presided over the nuptials of a young couple as they pledge their enduring love to one another.

“Marriage and ministry meet this Sunday.  For my whole ministry has been about leading and loving in ways that embody the truths I preach about,” says Rev. Warnock, “That takes on a whole new level this Sunday as I pledge my lifelong love commitment while leading others in doing the same.”
