Lanes reopen on I-285 after fatal apparent hit-and-run

DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. (FOX 5 Atlanta) - A fatal accident involving a pedestrian caused big delays in DeKalb County Wednesday morning. 

It happened on Interstate 285 westbound before Buford Highway. Three lanes of I-285 were shut down for hours, causing major delays. All lanes reopened shortly before 9 a.m. 

DeKalb County Police said they responded to a person hit by a vehicle call. Upon arrival, the unidentified victim was pronounced dead at the scene. 

Police have called the accident an apparent fatal hit and run. At this time, no one is in custody and police are working to determine what led up to the deadly accident.

There is currently no information on the vehicle involved in the accident.
