Jekyll Island hosting 11th annual Shrimp and Grits Festival
JEKYLL ISLAND, Ga. (AP) — For the 11th year, chefs are serving up their favorite twists on Southern shrimp-and-grits recipes on the Georgia coast.
The Jekyll Island Shrimp & Grits Festival kicked off Friday at the state park about 80 miles south of Savannah. The three-day festival includes a food truck park, craft beer sampling as well as arts and crafts vendors.
On its final day Sunday, the festival will hold its cooking competition for best shrimp and grits dish, featuring a lineup of professional chefs. The winner will get a chance to cook the prize-winning recipe for Gov. Nathan Deal and his wife.
General admission to the festival is free, though certain special events require purchasing tickets.
