I-85 North Back Open after Horrible Afternoon Commute

ATLANTA - A crash on Interstate 85 North at the Shallowford Road bridge caused major delays during the Friday afternoon rush hour.

Northbound traffic was at a virtual standstill after the multi-vehicle accident closed 5 of the 6 northbound lanes. Only the far left lane of I-85 North was open to traffic immediately following the crash.

All northbound lanes were open again just before 5 p.m. Friday. Traffic remained slow-moving, but delays were easing within 30 minutes of the lanes re-opening.

At its worst, the backup stretched for several miles into the Downtown Atlanta area shortly after the crash.
