Husband arrested for shooting, killing wife in Conyers

A man faces murder and other charges after authorities said he shot and killed his wife in their Conyers neighborhood.

Deputies with the Rockdale County Sheriff's Office arrested LeTron Jemone Bell, 41, around noon Sunday.

According to investigators, officers responded to reports of shots fired at a home on Habersham Way SE.

When they arrived, neighbors said the man had already chased his wife, Lisa LaShawn Samuel Bell, out of the house and onto Greg Parks's property before he shot her one final time.

"My first thought was, 'What's going on?'  And before I could even react to anything, we heard the other pop and he started walking back up," said Parks.

Bell, said Parks, had a gun in his hand and refused the deputies' commands to drop the weapon.  After about ten minutes, Parks said the deputies shot Bell with a bean bag gun to get him into custody.

"He just wouldn't comply and that's, I guess, what bothered me most is I know that young lady's laying down there and he wouldn't comply," Parks explained. "They couldn't get down there to her until they secured the situation."

Paramedics transported Lisa Bell to Rockdale Piedmont Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

The Sheriff's Office called in the Georgia Bureau of Investigation to review the incident because they said Bell fired at deputies on the scene, who returned fire.

Bell is in the Rockdale County Jail  charged with felony murder, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, two counts of aggravated assault against law enforcement and three counts of cruelty to children because there were children inside the home at the time the violence began.

None of those children were hurt.
