Human remains found in Meriwether Co. woods
MERIWETHER COUNTY, Ga. - The Meriwether County Sheriff reported that a human body part was located in a wooded area off of Coleman Creek Circle in Luthersville.
It was discovered on March 7 at 6 p.m.
The body part appears to have been in its current state for an extended period of time, due to its condition, according to officials.
The Georgia Bureau of Investigation Crime Scene Unit photographed and processed the scene.
A cadaver dog also searched the scene to try and locate any other human remains in the area. There has not been any additional discovery at this time.
The crime lab will begin the process of attempting to determine race, sex, approximate age and any apparent causes of death.
They will compare any DNA evidence that they have on file against any missing persons in the data base.
