Human Remains Found in Clayton County
CLAYTON COUNTY, Ga. - A work crew made a disturbing discovery late Tuesday afternoon while dismantling a work shed behind a home - human remains.
The Major Felonies Unit of the Clayton County Police Department responded to a home on Taylor Downs Way in unincorporated Riverdale. Investigators then called in GBI crime scene technicians who carted away several bags of evidence and the human remains.
Lt. Robert Maddux said the remains were taken back to the GBI crime lab for an autopsy. He said the badly decomposed body still had clothing intact. Maddux also said there was nothing obvious like gun shot or stab wounds to help determine the cause of death immediately. He said police don't know if it’s a man or woman’s body.
Neighbor Tim Murray said the people who lived there left the residence just a few days ago. Police said they had responded to the home previously on domestic disturbances and other calls.
