Hispanic woman harassed at McDonald's drive-thru by manager

A confrontation between a McDonald’s employee and a customer was caught on camera on Saturday.

The customer tells FOX 46 Charlotte she has been treated poorly at the Eastway Drive McDonald's before, and has decided it's time to take matters into her own hands.

"I am the kind of person who thinks: Treat the person the way you want to be treated," Wendy Rios said.

Rios was subjected to a slam of the drive-thru window, then a series of outbursts by the manager at the McDonalds.

Rios was apparently targeted based on her appearance and accent. The confrontation happened when Rios said she asked if everything had been included in her order.

"I got really, really mad and upset and everything," she said.

Rios decided to record the incident after dealing with poor customer service before.

"Because I want proof because I want to make a complaint to McDonalds to see what kind of managers they have," she explained.

After a visit from another employee at the drive-thru window, Rios decided to drive off, posting the video to Facebook when she got home. It's now been shared nearly 5,000 times.

"I had to post it because this is really sad but I didn't think it was going to be this big," she said.

Now, Rios hopes the video teaches those who view it a lesson.

"I treat everyone like a person. Not like you're white, or you black or you Chinese, or Korean, Mexican or Guatemalan. No. I treat everyone like the same," Rios said.

The owner of the McDonald's said in a statement the employee featured in the video has been fired and they do not condone her actions.

“The actions of this employee are inexcusable and in no way reflect the strong values McDonald’s and my organization place on diversity, inclusion and providing a welcoming experience for our customers.  This individual is no longer employed at my restaurant and we have expressed our sincerest apologies to the customer for this situation," said George Forrest, the McDonald’s Owner and Operator.

Rios said she hopes to meet with the owner at this McDonald’s face to face.
