High schools to provide young men with suits for prom
ATLANTA - Every year there is an enormous amount of initiative to help young ladies fulfill their desire to wear their dream prom dress, but what about young men?
“I found out that schools rarely get offers to help boys for the prom. Well, this year we are beginning a new trend and an annual event,” said Nichole Brown, organizer of the event.
The initiative is called "Suits with a Purpose." Brown has partnered with seven metro Atlanta Schools to provide young men with brand new suits for the prom. Each school has selected 10 students who will receive the suits. Why a suit instead of a tuxedo? Because the suits will have multiple uses for them.
“I'm so excited because this an idea I had back in December and I began contacting the schools after the holiday break and I received approval from all schools contacted. I'm raising the funds for each school.”
The seven high schools that will receive suits:
Columbia High School
Towers High School
McNair High School
Banneker High School
Tri-Cities High School
Lithonia High School
Benjamin E. Mays High School
The Make A Difference Foundation, Peace Baptist Church, and individuals have made this dream a reality.
