Henry County Issues a Rabies Alert for a Hampton Neighborhood

HAMPTON, Ga. - Animal Control received a call that a dog had killed a raccoon. The remains of the raccoon were taken to the Georgia Public Health Laboratory for rabies testing, and the results came back positive for the virus.

County Animal Care and Control issued a 45-day Rabies Alert for a one-half mile area around the 100 block of Morning View Lane in Hampton.

During this alert, residents in this area should make sure all of their pets and companion animals are up to date on their rabies vaccinations.

Residents should also be vigilant of the behavior of their pets and surrounding wildlife if they are acting in an unusual manner.
