GWINNETT COUNTY, Ga. - A man died at the hospital on Thursday evening after being shot by Gwinnett officers in the Oaktree Meadows subdivision.
What we know:
911 dispatchers received a call around 3:45 p.m. from a male who said they had been stabbed in the hand and that someone inside the house was still trying to stab him.
Officers responded to the reported domestic violence call in the 600 block of Oaktree Park Ct NW, when a man allegedly ran out of the home, charging towards them with a knife.
"A male suspect came out of the house with a knife in his hand above his head in an offensive manner and approached toward the officers," Winderweedle said. "The officers gave him numerous commands to de-escalate the situation and put the knife down."

The two nearby officers told the man to put the knife down, but he reportedly did not, continuing to run toward them, and so the officers fired. The man was shot multiple times.
"At that point, the officers were forced to fire upon the suspect, striking him at the front yard in the driveway," Winderweedle said.
The man was struck and taken to the hospital, where he later died. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation identified that man as Nawras Mahmud, 31, of Lawrenceville.
Investigators spent Thursday night at the home questioning witnesses and processing the scene.
"They will question all parties involved and go with investigation from there," Winderweedle added.
Two Gwinnett police officers are now on administrative leave while the GBI investigates the shooting.
