Gwinnett deputy charged for having sex with inmate

BUTTS COUNTY, Ga. - A former Gwinnett County sheriff’s deputy has turned himself after investigators say he had sex with an inmate during a transport.
Officials say 40-year-old Terry Henderson was transporting an inmate to Gwinnett County from a South Georgia facility when he took advantage of her. According to authorities, the incident happened in Butts County.
Henderson turned himself in Monday afternoon and is being held at the Butts County Detention Center. He is charged with violation of oath of office and sexual assault.
Henderson was a 12-year-veteran of Gwinnett County Sheriff's Office before he was terminated.
The Butts County District Attorney’s Office says there is reasonable grounds to proceed with a criminal prosecution.
