Good Samaritan Catches Suspect Running from Police

HIRAM, Ga. - Hiram Police thanked the man they called a "Good Samaritan," after he chased, tackled and held down a wanted suspect being pursued by officers Saturday night.

Elvis Dafrawi said he was driving his daughter home when he saw a police commotion, and an officer pursuing a man.

"I told the guy, 'Hey...Stop for the police. Stop! Stop!'" he said. "I pulled the car over. got out of the car, ran after the guy," Dafrawi said. "I tackled him, took him down and waited for police."

Dafrawi said he ran a quarter of a mile to catch the man, and was visibly out of breath as he spoke to FOX 5.

Hiram Police said the man was wanted for shoplifting from Academy Sports and Outdoors off Georgia Highway 278.

The suspect informed officers he also had a warrant for his arrest.
