Getting Colder By The Weekend

Temperatures more fitting of the season are on the way this weekend with a blast of cold air that will arrive on Friday. Until then warm air will build again across the East in advance of a cold front that will arrive on Wednesday. Expect lots of sunshine Tuesday and an increase in cloudiness throughout the day on Wednesday. Highs both days will climb into the upper 60's with overnight lows in the mid to upper 40's.

By late Wednesday showers will move up out of the Gulf of Mexico as the cold front approaches from the west. Those showers will last through Thursday morning and then drier and colder air will move in through the afternoon. Expect the winds to pick up through Friday as the coldest air rushes in. Overnight lows will drop to freezing or below in most areas both Saturday and Sunday morning. Highs Friday and Sunday will be in the low 50's, but may only climb into the upper 40's on Saturday.

How long with the cold snap last? Not very long. Milder air will return for Christmas week with well above normal temperatures through Christmas day!
