German Shepherd recovering after being dragged by truck
WHITFIELD COUNTY, Ga. - A man accused of dragging a dog down a Whitfield County road was arrested on Friday.
Jesus Sandoval has been charged with aggravated cruelty to animals after neighbors reported the horrific incident to the sheriff’s office.
A resident off Mary Elizabeth Drive called 911 after seeing Sandoval pull a German Shepherd behind the tailgate of a green truck, according to reports. The witness said the dog wasn’t able to stand as the truck was moving.
Even after neighbors confronted Sandoval he continued driving down the road, according to reports.
Witnesses showed the responding deputy evidence of bloody paw prints along Carol Joyce Drive.
When the deputy questioned Sandoval he said he was trying to teach the dog how to follow the truck.
He asked to be cited with a ticket instead of going to jail, according to reports.
The deputy also discovered that Sandoval didn’t have a valid drivers’ license.
The dog was sent to a veterinarian in Chattanooga for treatment.
Sandoval was arrested and taken to the county jail after evidence was collected from the scene.
FOX 5 spoke with the Whitfield Animal Shelter just before noon on March 15.
“The dog is recovering well and has very tender feet,” according David Hedden with Whitfield County Animal Shelter.
The German Shepherd Dog Rescue Group of Georgia, Inc. will eventually put the dog up for adoption after he makes a full recovery.
