Frustrated parents are scrambling to find in-home child care options for their special needs children after learning Pediatria Healthcare will close within the next few weeks.

Pediatria offers weekday child care to medically fragile children with a variety of debilitating disorders.

Chief Operating Officer Joe Harrelson, issued the following statement to Fox 5 News about the imminent closure that he describes as "frustrating."

"Georgia's Medically Fragile Day Care program has served thousands of children over its 23 years of existence. Under Georgia Medicaid's recently enforced medically fragile daycare guidelines  the number of children receiving care in our Georgia centers has decreased to the point that the centers are no longer financially feasible....It has been a difficult and emotional week for our Nurses and Therapist who have spent many years caring for these children. We will continue to work with all of our families to ensure that they receive the medical care that they need."
