GBI Investigating Mayor of Roberta

ROBERTA, Ga. - The Georgia Bureau of Investigation has launched an investigation into a central Georgia mayor.

A former officer with the Roberta Police Department said he was fired after arresting Mayor Becky Smith's daughter."

Video from another officer's body camera shows the mayor showing up at the scene before her daughter is arrested.

The daughter is charged with disorderly conduct, driving without a license and failure to maintain lane charges.

The officer filed a complaint against Mayor Smith alleging she interfered with this traffic stop.

The GBI said it will determine if there was any wrongdoing.
