The Georgia Bureau of Investigation is looking into an officer-involved shooting in Henry County. The GBI said the shooting happened around 8:45 a.m. on Sunday on Brannan Road near McDonough. The suspect had a shotgun in his hands when officers arrived and didn't drop it when ordered, the GBI said.

A Henry County police officer shot and injured a man armed with a shotgun during a domestic incident early Sunday, according to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation.

What we know:

The GBI said agents were called to a home on Brannan Road near McDonough after the shooting, which happened around 8:45 a.m.

Investigators said officers encountered 38-year-old Greg Hamilton outside the home holding a shotgun. Officers repeatedly ordered him to drop the weapon, but he did not comply, according to the GBI. One officer then shot Hamilton.

Hamilton was taken to a hospital for treatment.

A FOX 5 crew on the scene saw GBI agents scouring the scene. It appears they were focusing on a Henry County police car and a red truck that looked stuck on an embankment. 

What's next:

The GBI said its findings will be turned over to the Henry County District Attorney’s Office once the investigation is complete.

This is the second officer-involved shooting in Henry County over the holiday weekend. On Friday, officers shot a minor who was allegedly trying to attack his mother.
