GBI investigates mysterious murder in Monroe
MONROE, Ga. - The Georgia Bureau of Investigation is on the hunt for the person responsible for murdering a man at his Monroe home over the weekend.
Anthony Myrons Simms, 59, was found dead inside a duplex located in the 500 block of Baron Drive on Saturday afternoon.
Investigators said a neighbor called police after noticing a bedroom window had been kicked in at the unit.
An autopsy performed Monday showed preliminary results that Simms was murdered. GBI agents said they are withholding certain details as to the manner of death due to the on-going investigation.
According to officers, the victim's 2002 dark blue Dodge Dakota pickup truck was missing. It has a Georgia license plate that reads DP9TEJ.
Crime scene specialists were out at Simms’ home again on Monday combing over the scene for evidence. Meanwhile, a nationwide BOLO has been issued for the truck.
Anyone with information is asked to call the Monroe Police Department at 770-266-5127 or the GBI at 1-800-597- TIPS (8477).
