GA deputy dies from heart attack while on duty

RICHMOND COUNTY, Ga. - A Georgia deputy passed away Thursday after suffering a heart attack while on duty.

Richmond County Sheriff's Deputy James Wallace, 61, was participating in an annual physical fitness assessment when had a heart attack. Fellow deputies performed CPR until EMS arrived and transferred him to a nearby hospital, where he passed away. 

Wallace began working for the Richmond County Sheriff's Office when he was 54-years-old, back in 2010. 

"James was a good man and will be missed," the sheriff's office said on Facebook. 

The sheriff's office also said Wallace was a dedicated employee and is being remembered as a good person as well as a good friend.
