Georgia officials are reminding people of state laws they must follow while boating during the holiday weekend.

Officials with the Georgia Department of Natural Resources say game wardens and other law enforcement will have a particular focus on laws against boating under the influence of alcohol or drugs through the July 4 holiday. State law prevents operating a boat with a blood alcohol content of .08 or higher, the same as driving a car.

All available game wardens will be on Georgia's waterways from Friday through the holiday on Tuesday.

Officials also are reminding boaters to wear life jackets, keep small children within arms-length while swimming and they recommend taking a boat safety education course.
