FORSYTH COUNTY, Ga. - A Sandy Springs firefighter killed after crashing his motorcycle in Forsyth County last week will be laid to rest on Monday.
Jacob Hammond, 21, was thrown from his motorcycle last Thursday morning while going around a curve on Bannister Road. Authorities said he died at the scene.
Monday morning, Sandy Springs firefighters gathered for a procession in Hammond's honor. They planned to escort Hammond's body from the funeral home, to the church, to his final resting place.
The procession began at Sandy Springs Fire Rescue at 8:30 a.m.
Hammond's funeral was held at First Baptist Church in Cumming.
