Frisco construction worker's leg amputated to free him from trenching machine
FRISCO, Texas - A surgeon was flown to an emergency scene in Frisco on Thursday to amputate a man's leg which had become trapped in a piece of heavy machinery.
Frisco Fire Department Capt. Kevin Haines said the worker got caught in the machine’s trenching blades at a construction site near Main Street and Independence Parkway in Frisco shortly after 9 a.m.
Extra firefighters and paramedics were called in and the decision was made to fly in a surgical team member.
The surgeon had to amputate the man’s leg to free him from the machine, Haines said.
The worker was reportedly conscious and breathing during the rescue. Once stabilized, he was airlifted to Medical City Plano. He is expected to survive.
