Friends Mourn High School Student Hit by Vehicle

COBB COUNTY, Ga. - Students at South Cobb High School mourned the loss of one of their own Wednesday. Sixteen-year-old Isaiah Dean died from injuries he received from a car that hit him outside the high school Tuesday morning.

Police said Dean was hit around 9:15 a.m. on Austell Road. According to investigators, the victim stepped into the path of a 2000 Plymouth Neon while attempting to cross the road. 

The victim was taken to a nearby hospital. He passed away early Wednesday morning as a result of his injuries. 

The driver of the vehicle has been identified as 60-year-old Bruce Guercio, of Acworth. Investigators do not expect to file charges.

Guercio was not injured in the accident. 

Grief counselors were at the school Wednesday, helping students and faculty deal with the loss. FOX 5 has learned the school will hold a moment of silence Thursday morning at 8:15 a.m.
