ATLANTA - Employees at FOX 5 Atlanta were giving the gift of life Thursday.
The station hosted a blood drive with LifeSouth Community Blood Centers, a non-profit community blood center.
LifeSouth collects blood 363 days a year and the blood goes only to Georgia hospitals.
In order to meet the needs of patients, officials said they need at least 725 units of blood every day.
LifeSouth said they're the primary provider of blood to some very special patients.
The organization said nearly five million people in the United States need a blood transfusion every year.
