Eighty people and 23 families have been displaced tonight after DeKalb firefighters said the floor of an apartment building caved in, forcing everyone to evacuate.

Firefighters said around 11 a.m. Tuesday, they were called to inspect the problem at the Reserve at Brookhaven apartments off Briarwood Road. When they made entry into the building, they found the floors of multiple rooms had buckled into the crawl space.

Firefighters deemed the building unsafe, forced people to leave and kept people from entering their apartments.

"We haven't been able to get our stuff out-- our belongings," said Abraham Estrada, who said firefighters knocked on his door to leave and didn't have time to grab possessions.

Firefighters said until someone comes to inspect the building, no one can re-enter.

The Red Cross is helping those who are displaced by the evacuation.
