Authorities responded to the scene of an explosion Wednesday morning at a factory in Coweta County. The blast happened at Bonnell Aluminum on Bonnell Street in Newnan.

A plant official told FOX 5 five people were injured in the violent blast. One person was flown by helicopter to Atlanta Medical Center, two were taken to nearby hospitals and two other victims were treated at the scene.

"We had to hurry up and get out of there because the building was collapsing," a worker told FOX 5's Doug Evans.

The eruption not only forced workers to evacuate and the plant to shut down, but also damaged a number of surrounding buildings. Witnesses at nearby businesses told us they could feel the blast.

"I thought someone had drove into the restaurant," said one business owner. "The building was shaking."

Clay Neely with the Newnan Times-Herald shared video from the scene with FOX 5 News.

Officials indicated that there was no ongoing concern about a hazardous materials situation.
