Firefighters rescue worker from cell tower
GWINNETT COUNTY, Ga. (FOX 5 Atlanta) - Gwinnett County firefighters rescued an injured worker from a cell tower site in Suwanee on Monday afternoon.
Crews responded to the location on West Price Road, NE after getting a 911 call that the victim was more than 100 feet off the ground.
When firefighters got to the scene, they found the worker suspended in the air near the top of the tower.
According to first responders, the victim was climbing the tower when he was injured and unable to get down.
The fire department's Technical Rescue Team and contract climbers stepped into action to stabilize the patient for the long trip down. Using a rigged rescue harness, they were able to slowly lower the man to the ground.
Paramedics transported the man to the hospital for further evaluation. Officials said he was conscious, alert, and breathing.
