ATLANTA (FOX 5 Atlanta) - Atlanta Braves All-Star Mike Foltynewicz along with the Hartford and the Atlanta Fire Department teamed up for Fire Safety Day in Atlanta.
Elementary school students went through the hands-on fire safety event including a simulated fire and smoke demonstration and touring their fire truck.
The Braves pitcher says the event was done to raise awareness about the importance of fire safety and prevention.
Organizers deputized more than 200 students as junior fire marshals.
The Hartford says Atlanta ranks number 60 among the 100 U.S. cities with the highest home fire risk.
