Fire Destroys Units at Dunwoody Apartment Complex
DUNWOODY, Ga. - Some families were without a home Sunday night after a fire engulfed their apartment building in Dunwoody.
Crews responded to the flames around 6 p.m. at the Dunwoody Crossing apartment complex.
Deputy Fire Chief Norman Augustin told FOX 5 News that 10 units were heavily damaged. Augustin added one person was treated for smoke inhalation but there were no serious injuries.
Resident Abhishek Gupta lives near the burned-out building. He said flames towered over the units, frightening tenants. He also said he watched families as they evacuated the area.
"They were shocked and not in a position to speak much because they were crying," Gupta said.
Augustin says the complex management is working to provide shelter for families.
The Red Cross also responded to the fire.
