FBI puts out call for man's 'sextortion' victims

The FBI is looking for more victims of a Florida man who's already been sentenced to over 100 years behind bars for making child porn.

Lucas Michael Chansler of St. John's pleaded guilty last August to nine counts of producing child pornography.  According to testimony, the 31-year-old targeted 350 underage victims in 26 different states, three Canadian provinces, and the United Kingdom. Of those, 109 victims have been identified. 

Now, agents are working to identify Chansler’s remaining victims.

Court documents show that Chansler sent online threats hundreds of teen girls from 2007 and continuing through January of 2010 as part of a 'sextortion' scheme to extort photographs and webcam videos showing the girls exposing themselves and engaging in sexually explicit conduct.  Agents say he would secretly record the victims in online chats, then threaten them with the recordings to get more pics and videos.

When he was arrested, agents say he had approximately 80,000 images and videos in his possession.

"When we interviewed him, we asked why he selected that age group, and one of the comments he made was, well, because older girls wouldn’t fall for his ploy," recalled Special Agent Larry Meyer, who led the FBI's investigation.

The FBI has posted a list of the screen names and email accounts that he used, and they are hoping that information will help lead them to more victims.

"There’s still about 250 young girls -- well, young women now -- out there who have not had closure yet, so that’s certainly one of our goals, is to try to identify as many of these remaining victims who are out there so they can be located, they can be interviewed, and obtain any necessary counseling they might need," Agent Meyer continued.  "And to let them know that this dark period of their life is over."
