Fayetteville police search for armed robbery suspect
FAYETTEVILLE. Ga. - Fayetteville police are looking for a man who robbed two Waffle House restaurants this week wearing an unusual mask.
Police said the man entered the Waffle House on North Glenn Street at around 12:13 Monday morning armed with a semi-automatic handgun.
“The suspect walked in all in black, had a skull mask over his face,” said Fayetteville Police Lieutenant Mike Whitlow.
Surveillance video shows the suspect approaching a female customer seated at a table and stealing her wallet. Police said he then demanded an employee give him money from the cash register, before fleeing with an undisclosed amount of cash.
Lt. Whitlow believed it’s the same man who robbed a Waffle House Restaurant on Ginger Cake Road early Tuesday.
“This morning about one o'clock in the morning, Waffle House West out on 54 West, almost the same exact scenario except the suspect in this case was wearing a red hoodie,” said Lt. Whitlow.
Police said the man was wearing the same face mask and displayed similar tactics when he walked in.
“He did not target any customers. He went straight for the register and this time was a little bit different because he brought a plastic bag to put the money in,” said Whitlow.
The suspect got in and out quickly. He ran on foot, but investigators believed he had a car in the area. Police said they believe the suspect is a black man in his early 20's, about 6'1" with a thin build. He wore grey striped mitten like gloves. Police are trying to get him off the streets before he strikes again.
“Somebody's going to end up getting hurt. Either this person's going to get hurt when he robs the wrong Waffle House with the wrong customers inside, or he's going to end up hurting somebody else, or hurting himself,” said Whitlow.
Anyone with information in the case is asked to contact the Fayetteville Police Department.
