Father, son charged in elderly couple's death in court

A father and son charged in connection with the death of an innocent couple who were killed last week in a car accident on Peachtree Parkway appeared in court on Thursday. 

Investigators said a Johns Creek police officer was trying to pull a vehicle over in a traffic stop, but the car refused to stop. A chase ensued and crossed into Gwinnett County. The vehicle officers were pursuing collided with another car at the intersection of Peachtree Parkway and Jay Bird Alley. The impact of the crash killed 77-year-old Kryzysztof Krawczynski, who was driving, and his wife 78-year-old Elzbieta Gurtler-Krawczynski.

The suspects have been identified as Larry Thomas, 47, and his son Jesse Thomas, 18, of Tennessee. They were taken to the Gwinnett County Detention Center. 

Larry Thomas was arrested on more than 15 charges including two counts of vehicular homicide, DUI, reckless driving, failure to maintain, trafficking in methamphetamine, possession of cocaine and possession of a gun during the commission of a felony. 

Thomas' teenage son is also facing a number of charges including trafficking in methamphetamine and morphine, possession with intent to distribute marijuana, possession of LSD and cocaine and possession of a gun during the commission of a felony. 

Saturday, both Larry and Jesse Thomas had first court appearance where no bond was set by the judge. They are back in court on Thursday. 

A funeral was held on Thursday for the Krezinskis in Lawrenceville.
