Farmer's pigs shot and killed

It is a case of animal cruelty in Paulding County. A farm owner has asked for the community’s help in finding the person who shot and killed two of his pigs.

He found the pigs' bodies a week ago Tuesday and he's now offering a reward to anyone with information about who could've done this.

The owner of the farm is devastated. He said the pigs were in a pig pen when someone came in and shot them and apparently then tried to haul them away.

They keep to themselves and don’t bother anyone. That’s why Josh Banta, who owns Triple J Farms in northern Paulding County doesn’t understand why anyone would shoot three of his pigs, killing two. It happened in the wee morning hours a week ago here off Lucas Road.

Banta came to check on his livestock and found the scene where someone killed two of his pigs. This pig seen here is the sister of the two male pigs killed. Mr. Banta said one weighed around 150 pounds, the other closer to 450 pounds.

It turns out the culprits also shot the third pig, but that one managed to survive its injuries to the leg.

Banta is trying to understand why anyone would do such a thing; shoot the pigs and leave them for dead. In fact, he told FOX 5 News, from the scene it looked like the person or people responsible even tried taking the pigs.

Banta wants justice and has now offered a 1,000 reward for information leading to an arrest and conviction in the case. Anyone with any information urged to call the police.
