Family pleads for justice 3 years after murder
ATLANTA - The heartbroken family of 33-year-old Demetrius Wright speaks to FOX 5 News in hopes someone will provide tips to help solve his 2014 cold case murder.
Atlanta Police said as Wright was driving, another driver shot him. Wright eventually died of his injuries.
"I don't know why this happened to my son," said Raynell Griffin Wright, the young man's mother. "I live every day thinking, hoping and praying, whoever saw something, whoever did this to my son, would come forth," she said.
Police said they don't know if the ordeal on March 16, 2014, was a case of road rage, or if Wright was actually targeted.
His family tells FOX 5, the up and coming music engineer had driven from a recording studio and was en route to see his daughter when a gunman in another vehicle along Cheshire Bridge Road and I-85 opened fire and shot Wright. Police said Wright flagged down a Grady Memorial Hospital emergency crew for help.
Wright's family said the 33-year-old stayed in the hospital for close to 3 weeks before he passed away.
Police are hoping tips can lead investigators to solve the man's murder. Anyone with information is asked to contact Crime Stoppers at 404-577-TIPS. Tipsters can remain anonymous and receive up to $2,000 for information.
